LED Backlit Samsung LN46A950 46" LCD TV: Product Review

When it comes to buying that brand new LCD television brand names are important. That is why Samsung has been selling as many TVs as anyone in the market today thanks to their durable products and excellent customer service. This year they recently released the LED backlit LN46A950 a 46" LCD television loaded with features. This is their top of the line offering for 2008 and I have been luck enough to get my hands on one of these beauties. I am going to let you know how well it performed for me so that you may have a more educated buying experience.

Ease of use: 3/5

Picture quality: 5/5

Sound: 4/5

Value: 3/5

Overall: 4/5

Product Overview:

The overall look of this television is fantastic. It has a nice glossy finish and comes with a nice stand, however it does not swivel. The frame around the screen is quite thick and the back of this television is very large compared to most LCD flat panel TVs. The connectivity includes 3 HDMI inputs, 2 component inputs, and a PC input in the back with more on the side.

The picture quality is fantastic among the best I've ever seen from an LCD and I am not exaggerating. The only downfall for this TV is its poor off angle viewing, so keep that in mind when you're considering the location for this television. This TV has more features then I've ever seen in a LCD television. It has tons of interactive content like games, kids sing alongs, and recipes. This TV can also connect to the internet for surfing and connect to your home network so videos and music can be directly streamed to it. The LED backlight allows for extreme customization depending on the lighting needs for the particular room it is sitting in and produces very deep black levels compared to other LCDs. The screen does have some glare issues thanks to the highly reflective coating however it shouldn't be a deal breaker.

When Sony developed BluRay they had this type of television in mind, it produces a fantastic picture from a Playstation 3's BluRay drive. Playing games with a PS3 is truly a dream on this television with no noticeable blurring

Product Value:

This is not only one of Samsung's premier feature filled TV's of the season it also the award for being Samsung's most expensive television of the season. Priced currently around $3000 on a good day this television is likely out of most people's price range. However if you have to have the best then this is your TV. Just find the best price (most likely online) and pick one of these up today, you will not be disappointed.
